What is Kensho Grounding Agent?

Kensho Grounding Agent is a service that enables users to accurately and effectively retrieve S&P Global's trusted data via any GenAI application. The service allows customers to integrate S&P Global's AI-ready data wherever their workflows take place, not only in S&P Global's platforms, but also across third-party applications and the GenAI ecosystem at large.

How does it work?

Kensho Grounding Agent integrates with any multi-agent GenAI application. When customers or other agents ask questions of the large language model (LLM), they receive trusted answers with a source citation to the specific S&P Global document or dataset.

Here's how it works: A core component of the Kensho Grounding Agent is the router, which acts like an API gateway. It includes descriptions of all the other data retrieval agents available to it, and routes incoming queries to the relevant data retrieval agent. Every data retrieval agent contains a name and description. This description is especially important for the Router to be able to route to the correct data retrieval agent. Ideally, the description should contain a concise description of all datasets contained within the data retrieval agent. Example queries can also help with guiding the Router. The router has all the "active" data retrieval agent names and descriptions in its context, and decides between them.

What are some use cases for the Kensho Grounding Agent?

The Grounding Agent supports any workflow that involves data retrieval, analysis, and reporting, enabling users to ask complex questions and receive reliable insights from S&P Global data. For example, many workflows commonly performed by bankers, portfolio managers, analysts, and researchers across the financial services industry.

Here are a few sample use cases:

Equity Analysis and Broker Research

A broker at a large financial institution analyzing a company's recent earnings report and trade recommendations could interact with an AI "Broker Support Agent" analyzing the latest equity analyst reports, pulling sales leads from the CRM, or suggesting trades by contextualizing the new equity report with the broker's notes on clients' trading styles.

AI-Powered Sales Cycles

Sales teams, who today have to combine multiple sources of constantly changing information about customers' businesses, CRM information, and sales & marketing collateral in order to drive sales campaigns, can leverage AI agents leveraging S&P's proprietary data and curated internal knowledge to automate sales flows, ensuring that AI-generated outputs are grounded in approved, up-to-date S&P data and collateral, maintaining accuracy and compliance.

What datasets can be accessed?
